'The Lego Movie' News Update
There is a ton of exciting news regarding The Lego Movie so let's get right into it!
The sequel to The Lego Movie now has a release date. It is scheduled for release on May 26, 2017.
As I have mentioned previously, I am not yet sold on a sequel. I am concerned that it will not be as inventive as the first film. Given how much inventive concepts were crammed into The Lego Movie, I simply do not know what they could possibly do next to wow audiences. I will remain hopeful, though.
Next up and perhaps the most unexpected of the updates, there will also be a Lego spinoff film based on the Lego Ninjago toys. It will be directed by Charlie Bean and it will be written by Dan and Kevin Hageman. Dan Lin and Roy Lee, producers of The Lego Movie will be back to produce this film. Also, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the directors of The Lego Movie will be involved in making the film. No release date has been confirmed.
I think this film could be good but, much like the sequel to The Lego Movie, I am worried that it won't be as inventive as The Lego Movie. Prove me wrong, Warner Bros.! I still look forward to what is in store.
Last in news updates, let's take a look at the box office numbers for The Lego Movie.
Over this weekend, The Lego Movie has made it at the top of the box office for its third consecutive week with $31.4 million! The film has now made $183 million domestically and $275 million worldwide.
It is really exciting to see this film still doing so well at the box office. The film is true cinematic brilliance and if you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favor and do so immediately! It's not just a shameless marketing gimmick and you will not regret watching it and will only be missing out if you don't.
