New Voice Cast for 'The Good Dinosaur' Revealed

As you all know, The Good Dinosaur when through countless changes in production. This, of course, meant a director change, pushing the movie back until this November, and completely reworking the story. I don't even think the dinosaurs are even farmers anymore like they originally were! However, that wasn't all that changed during production. Unsurprisingly, the voice cast was also completely changed.

Here is what the voice cast was previously:

Lucas Neff - Arlo
John Lithgow - Poppa, Arlo's father
Frances McDormand - Momma, Arlo's mother
Neil Patrick Harris - Cliff, Arlo's brother
Judy Greer - Ivy, Arlo's sister
Bill Hader - Forest, Arlo's other brother

Now, here is the new voice cast:

Raymond Ochoa - Arlo
Jeff Wright - Poppa
Frances McDormand - Momma
Marcus Scribner - Buck, Arlo's brother
Steve Zahn - Thunderclap, a Pterodactyl
A.J. Buckley - Nash, a T-Rex
Anna Paquin - Ramsey, another T-Rex
Sam Elliot - Butch, a third T-Rex
Jack Bright - Spot

As you can see, some characters have been cut, such as Arlo's siblings, except for one brother whose name was changed to Buck. The only voice actor that is staying on the film is Frances McDormand as Momma.

Honestly, I think the change of voice actors was for the better. The Good Dinosaur did used to have some well known talent and now there's very few actors I have actually heard of, but that's not really a bad thing. I like how Pixar likes to hire both voice actors who are well know, but also those who aren't. It shows that they really want to make sure the actor's voice fits the character perfectly, instead of relying on just hiring big name actors for marketing purposes like many other studios, such as DreamWorks and Blue Sky, who are both guilty of this. Pixar would only hire a big name actor if that actor's voice fits the character he or she is playing.

All in all, this new voice cast is quite impressive. I'm really excited to see how these voice actors will contribute to bringing these characters to life.
