Recently, Disney has released a boatload of updates from CinemaCon. All of the updates are right here.
Let's start off with Pixar:
Not only did we get that epic Brave trailer (click here to read my thoughts on it), but we also got a new title for The Untitled Pixar Dinosaurs Film! it's going to be called The Good Dinosaur (a very likely reference to the fact that in this film, dinosaurs live alongside humans and humans have dinosaurs as pets)! Not only that, but we also got release dates for The Good Dinosaur and The Untitled Pixar Human Mind Film! The Good Dinosaur will be released on May 30, 2014 and The Untitled Pixar Human Mind Film will be released on June 19, 2015! If that doesn't already get you excited, Pixar also announced Lee Unkrich's new project, which takes place in Mexico which has to do with the holiday Dia de los Muertos (which means Day of the Dead). That project sounds so ambitious and dark! I have a feeling it will be released in the summer of 2016. It currently has no title and no offical release date. Still not bouncing off the walls? Well, In CinemaCon, they also showed a teaser trailer for Monsters University! It hasn't been released online yet but apparently, in the teaser, they showed Sulley pranking Mike in his dorm! People really enjoyed the teaser, according to reports. I wonder when that teaser will be shown. Perhaps it will be shown before The Avengers or Brave. Also, a new clip for Brave entitled "Eyes on the Pies" has just been posted up on YouTube, which has Merida teaching her triplet brothers archery! And finally, the people who went to CinemaCon got to see the first 30 minutes of Brave.
Anyways, that concludes the Pixar portion of this update. Now, let's move on to Disney:
Those who went to CinemaCon got to see the first 6 minutes of Wreck-it Ralph. It was also announce that Wreck-it Ralph will have cameos from various retro video games, such as Bowser from Super Mario Bros., Zangief from Street Fighter II, a Zombie which is possibly from Resident Evil, Clyde, the orange ghost from Pac-Man, M. Bison from Street Fighter II, and Doctor Ivo Robotnik from Sonic the Hedgehog. Those are the only cameos announced at the moment, but more are sure to come. Who do you think will also have a cameo? I would like to see Sora from Kingdom Hearts. After all, the game is a Disney game, which was developed by Square Enix. But then again, I don't know if they'll show any video game protagonists in this film. This film is taking my addiction to video games and my passion for animation and combining them into a Who Framed Roger Rabbit esque crossover epic!
An upcoming short film has been announced and will beshown before Wreck-it Ralph, it's called Paperman. It will be in black and white, a hybrid between CGI and hand drawn animation and it will be about a lonely man who feels he met the perfect woman by a chance meeting. After he thinks she is gone forever, he gets a second chance and sees her in a skyscraper window across from his office. He has to try and get her attention with only his heart, imagination and stacks of paper by his desk but his efforts are no match for what the fates have in store for him.
Disney has also announced that they're making another hand-drawn animated film! It is still in early production so I don't know what the title is or what it will be about. All I know is that they're bringing back hand-drawn and that's awesome!
That concludes this epic Disney news update. I am really looking forward to Disney's fututre. What are your thoughts? comment in the comment section. I'm all ears.
