Pixar and Disney Announce their Release Schedules from 2016 and Onward

Wow! This is amazing news! ECRboxoffice has announced the release dates for another set of Pixar films after Finding Dory! Here’s the tweet:
Animation domination! UNTITLED PIXAR FILMS are now set for 6/17/16, 6/16/17, 11/22/17, 6/15/18.
— Exhibitor Relations (@ERCboxoffice) May 29, 2013

I hope this is true since this has not been officially announced by Pixar. Anyways, one film is set for release on June 17, 2016, another film is for June 16, 2017, another one on November 22, 2017 and yet another one on June 15, 2018.

I am now going to share with you some theories that I have on this:

Theory 1:

Notice how 2 films are being released in 2017. Also take into account the fact that John Lasseter recently said that if they have a good story for a sequel, then they will release an original film and a sequel in one year.

So this can me 2 things. It could mean that Finding Dory has been pushed back to November 22, 2017, or it could mean that Bob Iger literally meant that there is another sequel after Finding Dory.

I think that if they pushed back Finding Dory, it would be reasonable, since 2015 seems a bit too early. After all, the film was just recently announced and animated films take at least 4 years to make. It would make perfect sense if they needed a bit more time on Finding Dory. This would mean that Bob Iger’s statement was poor wording. I am feeling very conflicted about this. Is there another sequel or not? Pixar, help!

Theory 2:

So now I’m wondering what the other 3 films are. I have a feeling that the June 17, 2016 is going to be the already announced Buddy Newton film and the June 16, 2017 film will be the also announced Mark Andrews film. However there is a conflict with this theory as well, which I will mention in my 3rd theory.

Theory 3:

I mentioned that the Buddy Newton film will be the June 17, 2016 film. However, the conflict here is the fact that, as I mentioned before, animated films take 4 years to make. So this could mean that the Buddy Newton film will be released on June 16, 2017 and the Mark Andrews film will be released on June 15, 2018, or the other way around, since Mark Andrews apparently has a fast process to make his movies. Either way, these 2 films are definitely part of this 3 year slate. This leads us to theory 4…

Theory 4:

If those 2 films are released on those days, then what could be released on June 17, 2016?! Those have been the only announced films, and if a film takes 4 years to make, shouldn’t they have announced it back in 2012? My answer is simple:

Newt! This could be a huge possibility since the film has already gone through a good chunk of production, until it got cancelled, that is. Bringing it back would only make my other theories make even more sense!

If Newt isn’t on that release date, then the release schedule might be the following:

June 17, 2016: The Untitled Buddy Newton Film
June 16, 2017: The Untitled Mark Andrews Film
November 22, 2017: Finding Dory or some other unannounced sequel
June 15, 2018: A new, unannounced Pixar film

Theory 5:

But wait, what about Dia De Los Muertos?! Well, the most likely answer is that if the June 17, 2016 movie isn't Newt, it could be Dia De Los Muertos

June 17, 2016: Dia De Los Muertos
June 16, 2017: The Untitled Buddy Newton Film
November 22, 2017: Finding Dory or some other unannounced sequel
June 15, 2018: The Untitled Mark Andrews Film

Who would have thought that one little tweet can cause this much analysis?!

As if this news isn’t good enough, ECRboxoffice sent another tweet announcing the release schedule for upcoming Disney films! Here is the tweet:

March 4, 2016
November 23, 2016
March 9, 2018
November 21, 2018

This one is going to be very difficult to predict but I’ll try my best to do so by showing you yet another set of theories:

Theory 1:

Disney is releasing 2 films every other year. They are skipping 2015 and 2017! Those are the same years Pixar releases 2 films a year! Disney has also been releasing films in November, which is the same month Pixar is releasing the 2nd films in those years. I guess in order to refrain from competition from a studio they own, they will be skipping those years and will release 2 films every other year to make up for it.

This could completely solve the problem with the sequels! I guess this means that there, in fact, will be another Pixar sequel in 2017 and Andrew Stanton I guess started production on Finding Dory a while before the film was announced.

Theory 2:

So what could those 4 Disney films be? I think King of the Elves will finally see the light of day on March 4, 2016, the Byron Howards film will be released on November 23, 2016, the Ron Clements and John Musker film will be released on March 9, 2018 and the Untitled Mickey Mouse film will be released on November 21, 2018.

March 4, 2016: King of the Elves
November 23, 2016: Byron Howards film
March 9, 2018: Ron and John film
November 21, 2018: Mickey Mouse film

No matter what movie fits each release date, I'm extremely excited to see what Pixar and Disney have up their sleeves.

What films do you think are in that release schedule? Do you agree with any of my theories? Comment below!
