Disney Officially Announces Big Hero 6

Recently, Disney announced their first compilation project. And what could be a better studio to team up with than Marvel? The film is going to be called Big Hero 6 and it will be released for November 7th, 2014.

We already knew that Disney was making this film but now, we have more details. Not only did we get a release date, we also got synopsis, concept art and a 30 second video. That is already more marketing than what we’ve seen for their upcoming film, Frozen. I don’t want to turn this into a rant about Frozen so all I’m going to say is, come on Disney! Release a Frozen trailer already!

Anyways, here’s the synopsis and concept art for Big Hero 6:

“Big Hero 6″ will be the first partnership between two pedigreed entertainment companies — Mickey Mouse’s 90-year-old animation studio and Spider-Man’s 74-year-old publisher — since the Walt Disney Co. acquired Marvel in 2009. Directed by Don Hall (“Winnie the Pooh”) and due in theaters on Nov. 7, 2014, the movie will center on a boy and his beloved robot companion who join a team of crime fighters in a mythical mashup city called San Fransokyo.

That sounds amazing! Ever since John Lasseter took over Disney as CEO in 2007, Disney has started making great films again. They have also been starting to leave their comfort zone and taking more risks with each of their films, instead of making fairy tales and talking animal films. Wreck-it Ralph was proof of that. However, the fairy tale genre is not dead at Disney, since they are making films such as Frozen. I’d know more about Frozen, though, if they released a trailer (hint, hint!)

Overall, I’m really excited for Big Hero 6 and Disney’s future. I’ll conclude this with the video for Big Hero 6. It’s not much, but it’s more than what we’ve gotten for Frozen.

What do you think?
